Whenever the really warm spring days hit us, I am drawn back to my favourite haunt for the back end of summer – I go out to cyprus and stay with a very good pal of mine. We’ve known each other for over thirty years and now she lives out there, widowed a year or two ago. We mooch abut in the markets and go gathering herbs and fruit from down the lane in the farmers’ fields. Although they have embraced this century to a certain extent, in that they don’t all run around with donkeys, there is still enough about the old way of life to make it a very relaxing fortnight for a townie like me! Everything needs to be planned, especially up in the mountains where my chum lives. Ordering online has started to become the norm. I can’t wait until it takes a bigger place!
